Hydrology & HydrogeologyTHE HYDROLOGY AND HYDROGEOLOGY ASSESSMENT EXAMINES ANY POTENTIAL IMPACTS RESULTING FROM THE CONSTRUCTION AND OPERATION OF THE WIND FARM ON SURFACE WATERCOURSES, DRAINAGE SYSTEMS AND GROUNDWATER FLOWING THROUGH THE SITE.The majority of the site lies within the headwaters of the Fearn Canal sub-catchment, which drains northwards from the wind farm site towards the Fearn Canal and ultimately into Nigg Bay. The remainder of the site drains eastwards to the coast via Port an Righ and the Allt nan Damh catchments. Most watercourses on the site have been heavily modified for agricultural drainage purposes. No turbines will be placed within a 50m buffer of these watercourses to prevent any potential impacts on water quality during construction. Access tracks will be designed to avoid crossing watercourses where possible. A hydrologist has identified sensitive receptors, such as private water supplies and fisheries interests, which could be affected by the development. The EIA fully explores any potential impacts on these interests and proposes suitable mitigation measures to protect them. |
