NoiseTHE NOISE ASSESSMENT FOR THE NIGG WIND FARM PROPOSAL COVERS THE POTENTIAL EFFECTS OF OPERATIONAL NOISE ON RESIDENTIAL PROPERTIES . THERE ARE STRICT GUIDELINES REGARDING THE PERMITTED NOISE LEVELS FOR PROPERTIES NEAR WIND FARMS, WHICH ARE USED TO ENSURE THAT THERE IS NO DETRIMENTAL IMPACT ON LOCAL AMENITY.Background noise measurements have been taken from three local properties. These monitoring points were agreed with The Highland Council’s Environmental Health Officer. This information is then used with the wind speed and direction data collected simultaneously from the anemometer mast. From the data collected, it is possible to design the wind farm to ensure noise effects on surrounding residential properties are minimised to acceptable levels.
